"I wanted to travel and to see how other peoples live, how it is their culture, to climb their mountains and to put in this transitory perspective that I had discovered in the Alps. I did not want to have a career, neither to marry and nor to have family, or anything that I was sticking or was retaining myself. Simply I was trying to be free and to be in the mountains, which were the most liberating experience that knew. In fact, no climbers could never understand. It means something special, as a secret hidden in the minds from some privileged few ones"
Joe Simpson from the book "Touching the Void"
"Thank you mountain for having given itself teaching of life.
Because fatigued I have learned to please the rest.
Because sweating I have learned to estimate a sip of fresh water.
Because tired I have detained and could have observed the marvel of a flower,
the freedom of a flight of birds, to breathe
Perfume of the simplicity.
Because only, plunged in the silence, I have met
In the mirror and frightened
I have admitted my need of thruth and love.
Because suffering I have estimated the marvel of
Summit, perceiving that real things, those that take happiness, which it obtains only with fatigue,
And the one who can never suffer he can never understand"
agua fresca.
porque cansado me he detenido y he podido observar
y quien no sabe sufrir nunca podra entender)
