I had wanted to see the areas of Waynes Cave past Camp II, so I arranged for a Waynes trip to last about as long as previous trips taken by the club. Ten of us met up Friday night and camped at the property of Dick Blenz. We headed into Waynes sometime after 6am Saturday morning and spent about 13 hours inside. The trip started off like any other Waynes trip, with a quarter-mile long crawlway. Since no one else had seen major areas of the cave, I was intent on showing everyone the RPI passage. We spent hours trying to find this passage. Past trips described RPI as mud and domes, so they must have missed the hard to find climb up into the RPI passage just as we kept passing it up. Finally we found this passage and everyone that went along was impressed. After RPI, we headed back to the area around Camp II, then decided to head out after more trouble route finding. I was unhappy not being able to see the areas back to Camp IV, but everyone else seemed happy with the trip so I think it was a success. Afterwards, we stopped at Golden Corral for the buffet then drove home.
